The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence has announced the 2020 “Student Voices” contest – the competition aims to get Illinois students in grades 1-12 to think critically about issues surrounding gun violence and potential solutions. Students oftern bring unique insight and creativity to the issue, and the Student Voices Contest gives them a platform to speak out publicly on this vital topic, while promoting a sense of efficacy and advocacy. The competition, in its 25th year, has awarded prizes to over 300 students hailing from over 80 schools across Illinois. Winning students will receive a new Apple iPad in recognition of his or her achievement while sponsoring teachers of winners will receive a $100 Amazon gift certificate.
